This website and any associated websites and sub-sites (“Site”) along with its Content are owned and operated by Danielle Doerksen operating as ChurnAlert (the “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), based in the Province of Alberta, Canada.
The term “you” shall refer to the user and/or viewer of this Site.
The term “Content” shall refer to any and all written, visual, video and/or audio information or material contained on the Site, including but not limited to all emails received from the Company, written material, messages, graphics, images, forms, documents, and the like.
The term “personal information” may include but is not limited to: your name; email address; billing and payment information; your Stripe API key (stored encrypted); customer data synced from your Stripe account; and your communications sent to us.
The term “non-personal information” may include but is not limited to: your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address; the time, date and length of your visit; traffic data; the referring website; browsing and navigation patterns; browser type; device information; and log files.
As the owner of this Site, we understand that your privacy is of critical importance. We are committed to using your personal and non-personal information in a reasonable and responsible manner in compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (“PIPEDA”) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (“PIPA”). We collect your information in two ways: (1) personal information that you have voluntarily provided to us; and (2) non-personal information that is automatically collected using data collection technology.
Personal Information Provided by You:
Your Interaction with Us: You may voluntarily provide your personal information to us when you create an account; connect your Stripe account by providing your Stripe API key; sync customer data from your Stripe account; install our JavaScript tracking snippet in your application; contact us with an inquiry; or request to receive products or services from us. We use this information to provide you with the requested service, send your weekly Monday morning digest emails, and to improve the performance of our Site.
Communication with Us: If you communicate with us via email or other form of communication, we will collect your personal information. We use this information to facilitate communication with you, to respond to inquiries, to provide you with support, and to maintain our records of said communications.
Payment Information: Personal information provided by you to purchase our services, such as payment and billing information, is collected and processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not retain nor have access to your full payment card information. We use your billing information to manage your subscription and process payments.
Stripe API Key: If you choose to connect your Stripe account, you will provide us with your Stripe API key. This key is immediately encrypted using AES-256 encryption before being stored in our database and is never stored in plain text. We use this key solely to sync your customer data and calculate churn risk scores.
Customer Data from Stripe: When you sync your Stripe account, we collect your customers’ names, email addresses, subscription status, and monthly recurring revenue (MRR). This data is used solely to calculate churn risk scores and generate your weekly digest emails.
Usage Events via JS Snippet: If you install our JavaScript tracking snippet in your application, we will collect customer activity events including customer ID, email address, and event type. This data is used solely to calculate churn risk scores.
Use of our Site: If you are browsing the Site, you are not required to provide personal information to do so.
By voluntarily providing your personal information to us, you are providing consent for us to use, collect and process said information.
Non-Personal Information Collected Using Data Collection Technology:
We automatically collect non-personal information regarding your activity on our Site using session cookies. We use this information to maintain and improve our Site and enhance your user experience. We will not use your IP address to personally identify you.
We use your personal and non-personal information to operate our Site, conduct business operations, and improve your experience, including:
Service Operations: We use your information to provide churn risk scoring, generate your weekly Monday morning digest emails, sync your Stripe customer data, and operate the ChurnAlert service.
Customer Service and Communication: We use your information to provide customer service, process your requests, and communicate with you about your account.
Fulfilling Obligations and Legal Compliance: We use your information to fulfill contractual obligations, enforce our Terms of Service, and comply with legal requirements including PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA.
Security and Detection: We use your information to detect and prevent any illegal or unauthorized activities on our platform.
Disclosures of Your Information: We may disclose your information in the following circumstances: in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred to the new owner and we will notify you before this happens; if required by law or by valid requests from public authorities; or if necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.
In compliance with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), we only send commercial electronic messages to users who have explicitly signed up for ChurnAlert and expressly consented to receive communications from us. Every email we send includes a visible and operable unsubscribe mechanism. We maintain records of consent. You may withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any of our emails or by contacting us at hello@churnalert.ca. Please note that withdrawing consent may affect your ability to receive certain features of the service.
We will collect, use, share and otherwise process your personal and non-personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We will not sell, trade, share or otherwise disclose your personal information to unrelated third-parties without your prior written consent or another valid basis as permitted by law.

Please be aware that our third-party service providers, including Supabase (hosted on AWS) and Vercel, may store and process your personal information on servers located outside of Canada, including in the United States. Data protection and privacy regulations in other jurisdictions may not be equivalent to the level of protection provided under Canadian law. By using our Site and services, you unequivocally agree to the transfer, processing and storage of your personal and non-personal information outside of Canada, and that Canadian laws will govern our collection and processing of your information.

We will retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active. Upon receipt of a valid deletion request, we will purge your personal information from our active systems within thirty (30) days.
We use the following safeguards to protect your personal information: AES-256 encryption for your Stripe API key; HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data transmitted to and from our Site; access controls limiting who can access your personal information; and commercially reasonable industry-standard security practices. You acknowledge that we cannot prevent all misuse and unauthorized access to your personal information.
Should a data breach occur that poses a real risk of significant harm to you, we will promptly notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada within a reasonable timeframe as required by PIPEDA.
You may be required to create an account with an email address and password to access our Site and services. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account login credentials. You are solely responsible for any activities that may occur through your account. We are not liable for any unauthorized use of your account due to the unauthorized use of your login credentials. We highly recommend that you log out of your account after each session.
If you want to access, rectify, update, or delete your personal information, please contact us at hello@churnalert.ca. You may also delete your account directly through our Settings page. We will process your request within thirty (30) days. Note, we reserve the right to refuse your request should we believe the requested changes to be false, incorrect or fraudulent in nature.

PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA protect personal information belonging to Canadians and Albertans respectively. These laws provide that we may collect, use or disclose your personal information in a commercial setting only for the purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate under the circumstances. Our operations are based in the Province of Alberta, Canada. Our third-party service providers may process data on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States.
